The reversible USB cable you've been dying to own has finally been completed

You know that crazy thing where the USB connector doesn't fit no matter how you turn it, until you actually look at it? Well, finally that will soon be a thing of the past.

Apple fixed one of the most frustrating things about owning an electronic device when it released the Lightning connector, and now the USB 3.0 Promoter Group plans to follow suit. The group announced on Tuesday that the long-awaited USB Type-C connector has finally been completed, which means the next generation of USB cables will be reversible. The new connector is specialized for use with mobile devices, but laptops and tablets will benefit from it as well.
“Interest in the USB Type-C connector has not only been global, but cross-industry as well,” said Brad Saunders, USB 3.0 Promoter Group Chairman. “Representatives from the PC, mobile, automotive and IoT industries have been knocking down our door anticipating this new standard. This specification is the culmination of an extensive, cooperative effort among industry leaders to standardize the next generation USB connector as a long-lasting, robust solution.”
The USB 3.0 Promoter Group hopes that the release of USB Type-C will be the final step in creating a single-cable solution for electronic devices. The new connector is significantly more powerful than the current standard, taking advantage of SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps performance and USB Power Delivery up to 100W.
Unfortunately, the new connector will not be compatible with modern USB ports, but once USB 3.1 begins to roll out, manufacturers should make the transition fairly quickly.

And here is a little funny sketch that explains that frustration.

Nvidia's 192-Core chip for Android

Nvidia made a splash at this year’s CES with the unveiling of its Tegra K1 ARM chip, which included a 64-bit version slated for release later this year. At the Hot Chips conference today, Nvidia released more details about the upcoming chip, which is codenamed Project Denver.
Project Denver is Nvidia’s first custom-designed CPU, and it’s being touted as the first 64-bit ARM processor for Android. The system will pair two Denver CPUs with speeds up to 2.5 GHz with its existing 192-core Kepler architecture. According to Nvidia, the dual-core design provides “significantly higher performance” than rival four- and eight-core mobile processors.
Denver Hot Chips Core Nvidia details its 64 bit Project Denver chip for Android coming later this year
The chip also includes: “7-way superscalar microarchitecture (up to 7 concurrent micro-ops can be executed per clock), a 128KB 4-way L1 instruction cache, a 64KB 4-way L1 data cache, and a 2MB 16-way L2 cache.” For the deeper technical workings of the chip, you can check out this report from Tirias Research.
Nvidia also confirmed that it is working on Android L support for the 64-bit chip. You can expect the first devices packing the new chip to arrive before the end of the year.
If it lives up to expectations, Project Denver will bring desktop level performance to mobile devices while still maintaining power efficiency. We’re trying not to get too hyped up about this, but today’s teaser suggests we’ll have some serious power in our hands this fall.

Hidden Messages In 14 Famous Logos That You Probably Weren't Aware Of • Menzene.com

Hidden Messages In 14 Famous Logos That You Probably Weren’t Aware Of
Have you ever looked at logos and wondered what they truly  mean or what inspired the designer? Sometimes a company or brand logo carries more than what appears at first sight. Here are 15 logos that you see almost on a daily basis and we at Menzene take a look at the hidden meanings or messages embedded in them.  We can assure you that you won’t look at these logos the same way again!

1. Baskin Robbins
The BR in the Baskin Robbins logo is made of two colors. When you focus on just the pink portion, the number 31 appears which denotes the number of flavors Baskin Robbins offers!

2.Picasa
Notice closely on the colorful portion of the logo. It represents a camera shutter while the negative space in the center of it represents a house. Casa means “house” in Spanish and Pi can be short for “pixel index”. If you put them together you have a house for your pictures.

3. Le Tour De France
The symbolism in this one may be hard to identify. Take a closer look at “O”, “U” and “R” along with the yellow circle. They are meant to represent a cyclist and his bicycle.

 4. Toyota
Toyota
You probably are aware of Toyota’s famous 3 ellipses logo, but do you really know what it means? They signify three hearts: the heart of the customer, the heart of the product and the heart of progress in the field of technology.

5. FedEx

At first this may appear as something simple and straightforward. However, if you look at the white space between the “E” and “x” you can see a right-facing arrow. This “hidden” arrow was intended to be a subliminal symbol for speed and precision.

6. Carrefour

Carrefour apparently means “crossroads” in french and the logo shows two opposite arrows inside a diamond shaping the “C” letter with the negative space between them. This can be a bit hard to spot!

7. Vaio
At first you just see the word VAIO, but look a little closer and you’ll see the first two letters represent an analog symbol and the last two letters represent binary symbols. Pure genius!

8. Formula 1
Between the letter F and the speed marks is the number one.
9. Hope For African Children Initiative

When you first look at it, it looks like any other map of Africa. But take a closer look and you’ll see an adult and a child facing each other.

10.Toblerone
This chocolate company has its headquarters in Bern, Switzerland which is commonly referred to as ‘ the city of bears’. Thus rightfully so, the company included a bear in its logo that appears to climb a mountain.

11. Unilever

Unilever produces so many different products that sometimes it’s hard to keep track of everything they do. Lucky for us, the symbols for most of the things they make are included in their logo.

12. Amazon

See where that arrow points? It suggests that you can buy everything from A to Z on Amazon.

13. Sun Microsystems

Usually tech companies stick with boring, meaningless logos, but not Sun Microsystems. Take a closer look at that diamond and you’ll see that it actually reads ‘Sun’ in every direction.

14. NBC

Ever notice the peacock in the middle of the logo. The numerous colors on its covert feathers were purposefully included during the 50′s. At that time NBC’s owner was RCA and they had just begun to manufacture color televisions. RCA wanted people who were watching black-and-white televisions to know what they were missing, so they created a colorful logo.

Android just topped iOS in global usage for the first time ever. Finally!!!

We all know Android’s market share crushes every other mobile platform out there in terms of shipment volume, but Android’s share of mobile usage as recorded by various networks around the world has always lagged Apple’s iOS platform… until now.
Just as we noted would be the case, Net Applications shows that Android’s share of global smartphone and tablet usage has narrowly topped worldwide combined usage of iPhones and iPad tablets. This marks the first time in the platform’s history that it finds itself at the top of the mobile pile.
Net Applications measure global mobile usage, which it refers to as market share, by monitoring traffic across its massive global network.

In the month of July, the firm shows that Android’s usage share jumped to 44.62% from 43.75% in June. As Android was gaining almost a point, iOS’s share of global mobile usage dipped to 44.19% in July from 45.61% in June. The slight loss was enough to move Apple to the No. 2 slot for the first time since Android’s debut, though things could certainly change quickly with the company’s expected iPhone 6 launch just over one month away.
Meanwhile, Windows Phone enjoyed a nice boost to 2.49% in July from 1.99% in June, and BlackBerry still isn’t big enough to be counted.
